WHAT IS A GROWN UP GAP YEAR ?
Why should the fun stop at 18 ?
We´re all familiar with 18 year old gap students gallivanting around the world: some of us may have even been there done that and got the t-shirt and bungy video.
We may no longer be seeking drunken delights on the east coast of Australia, but increasingly there´s a wide range of people looking for a an escape from the day-to-day treadmill of working life.
Whether it´s a career break or sabbatical, a chance to try your hand at something entirely different or just a change of scenery and an opportunity to get to know a little corner of this world better, more and more people are looking to have a break from ordinary life, take stock and enjoying something a little less ordinary for a while.
WHY WOULD I WANT A GAP YEAR ?
It could be for a whole host of reasons...
...maybe the career needs a rethink but there´s never enough time to let the mind wander…maybe you want to escape the rat race but don´t know how…perhaps you´re starting to think about retirement and don´t just want to play golf and tend to the garden…
Or it could be that you just want to spend that little bit longer, doing something that little bit different, in your favourite corner of the world, just doing as the locals do.
Whatever your reason we at G.U.G.Y are always happy to chat with anyone about escaping it all for a little while here and think we have some great ways to help you do so.
HOW CAN G.U.G.Y HELP?
We´re still on our very own grown up gap year!
We´ve spent the last few years travelling the world. We started out with backpacking, which although fun, left us a little hollow. However, we wanted more from our very precious time off from corporate life than just jumping from hostel to hostel, from tourist attraction to tourist attraction, simply talking to people who were doing exactly the same as us.
We wanted to get to know the places we visited better, we wanted time to think in those places and we didn´t want to spend our time away from proper jobs sitting in bus stations and backpacker lounges. So we´ve found a different way to do it.
We identified hundreds of unique experiences around the world where one could linger a little longer, and have spent the last couple of years trying them out – and it´s ultimately led us to start up the G.U.G.Y service.
We´ve now hand picked our favourite bits and are working to share the love (for a reasonable fee) with people who are looking to have some similar authentic experiences as part of their very own grown up gap year.
